Interruption Event
Overview
An interruption event is a complete loss of voltage in an electrical power system. This can happen due to a variety of reasons such as severe weather, equipment failure, or human error.
The interruption event can cause issues such as disruption of services, loss of productivity, and even safety hazards in critical situations.
This event is detected when the RMS voltage (updated every half cycle) falls below a predefined interruption threshold.
The interruption threshold is a percentage of the user RMS entered value typically ranging from 0% to 10%.
Interruption Detection Method
The detection algorithm is based on IEC 61000-4-30 standard and operates as follows:
- In single-phase systems, an interruption event starts when the Urms(1/2) voltage falls below the interruption threshold and ends when it rises above the threshold plus hysteresis.
- In polyphase systems, an interruption event starts when the Urms(1/2) voltage of all phases falls below the interruption threshold and ends when any phase rises above the threshold plus hysteresis.
Interruption Measurement Specifications.
- Measurement Method: Detected when the RMS voltage (updated each half cycle) falls below the interruption threshold.
- Recorded Event Information
- Voltage Level: Urms(1/2) at event start and end (% of nominal).
- Phase: Corresponding phases at event start and event end.
- Start Time: Event start timestamp.
- Frequency: System frequency at event start.
- Event Duration: Time interval between Event IN and Event OUT.
- Worst Case: Minimum Urms(1/2) value recorded during the event.
- Min Value: Minimum RMS voltage recorded for each phase during the event.
- Max Value: Maximum RMS voltage recorded for each phase during the event.
- Event Threshold: Defined as a percentage of the declared input voltage
- Event Start: Beginning of a waveform where Urms(1/2) falls below the interruption threshold.
- Event End: Beginning of a waveform where Urms(1/2) rises above the threshold plus hysteresis.
- Polyphase system treatment: An interruption event starts when all phases are affected and ends when any phase recovers.
- Stored Waveforms: Event waveforms are recorded for each detected interruption event.
